Project Nozomi Administrative Coordinator
Hello! My name is Ricardo Andrés Acevedo, and I am very excited to be joining the SFVJACC team as Project Nozomi’s Administrative Coordinator! I am a CSUN graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and an immense appreciation for the Japanese culture—a culture I have been immersed in since I was a child thanks to my uncle Ted Yamane. Having come from a family of teachers (five of my aunts and two of my uncles, as well as both my parents), community lies at the core of who I am, and as a former Peer Mentor at Los Angeles Pierce College, I take pride in my ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Being here is more than just a job to me, and I understand that I am joining this wonderful community center's long, beautiful, and decorated history. What started as an idea for the founders of SFVJACC has blossomed into a home for Japanese-Americans that has spanned generations—and I am grateful to be a part of its story. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity, and I promise to do my best to uphold the Project Nozomi mission statement. Thank you."
Project Nozomi hiring team, Glenn Miyagishima and Naomi Suenaka-Derr, commented that Ricardo Acevedo has a passion to immerse himself with the JA culture. We look forward to working with him. |
